Very unprofessional. Untrustworthy. Took my required $50 deposit and kept asking for more deposits before the day of cleaning. Communication was difficult. I would beware anyone from letting this company into their house. If they are crooks before they even started a job I would hate to see what they do when they are with your valuables!

Do not hire this company! Our regular wonderful cleaning lady was on vacation so I booked this cleaner. Wow was it a mistake. Within 20 minutes of being here, the cleaning woman on the job asked me for a plunger and told me the toilet was clogged. We have lived here nearly 3 years and don't even own a plunger because we've never had issues. I had heard her flush the toilet a few times while cleaning and thought it seemed excessive.
I asked her several times if she had flushed anything, and she repeatedly lied to my face. I contacted the company, but they were very unhelpful and unresponsive for several hours, so I finally called a plumber myself as it got closer to 5 pm, so we wouldn't have to pay evening rates. The plumber found cleaning wipes that had been flushed and caused the issue.
He confirmed they were such and even put it in writing to provide to Karen's, along with his phone number. Despite the proof, Karen's Green Cleaners refuses to reimburse us for the cost of the plumber, nor did they make any effort to get a plumber to my house themselves. I have never had such an awful experience with a company. Karen's has no respect for your home and they do not employ trustworthy people. Don't give them business!

Very disappointed in The Green Maid. I had a great initial experience talking to the owner on the phone and felt confidant he understood our needs, but when the cleaning crew came it was another story. There were 3 cleaners and they worked quickly, but missed many basic areas (dust/debris in corners, bathroom floors, obvious spots on walls, etc). And the very worst part is that they THREW AWAY something in our bathroom without asking (it was not super valuable, just a little trinket of my daughter's, but was CLEARLY not trash and they didn't bother to even ask if it should be moved/discarded).
When I called the owner to ask if they had moved the item instead, he said he would follow up with the crew and get back to me - but he never did, and actually avoided several of my calls back to him, never responding to my VM messages or returning my calls. Makes me wonder what else they may have moved/thrown away/stolen that I haven't discovered yet. DO NOT use The Green Maid.

I had a really bad experience with this cleaning company. The women came into my condo and they had a bad attitude from the start. The were upset to be cleaning - which is what I hired them to do! They were rude and unpleasant to work with. The bill was very high and completely not worth it. I was happy when they left and will not be hiring them back.

I asked the Green Maid to come to our new house before moving in. They charged me $286 and I honestly have no idea what they did. I specifically asked for the walls to be wiped and the floor between the washer and dryer to be cleaned. When I walked through the house after they had finished I found BOOGERS stuck to the walls, none of the walls wiped where I had asked and the area between the washer and dryer untouched. This company had no problem taking (a lot) of my money and doing literally nothing. Buyer beware.

I have never used a maid service before but we recently did some construction in the house that generated a lot of dust. After researching a few different options I went with Green Maid. I explained the situation and what I was looking for and felt like they were a great option. The team of three arrived on time, with supplied in hand. I walked them through the space and explained what I needed. Things started off well but towards the end I could tell that some areas were being skimmed over.
I sympathized because it is a big job 3500 sqft but that information was communicated upfront so perhaps three people wasn't enough. At surface level the house looked good but when I inspected in more detail it was obvious where shortcuts were made. When I made the appointment I asked if there were any specials or first time customer discounts.
I was told that there wasn't but that he would apply one anyways. My understanding was that it was 10%. When this discount wasn't applied I inquired about it and come to find out it was a $10 discount. Relative to the near $500 bill, $10 was hardly a discount. In my opinion, there are other services that would do just as good of a job that offer better pricing/special discounts.

I had construction done in my house and wanted a move in clean up. When i got back to the house after they left, my fridge wasn't cleaned, the bathroom floors were not cleaned. For spending over $200 and the cleaning to not be completed is unacceptable. I mow have to find another housekeeper to finish the job. Will definitely not use them again

Will not hire them again. Pros: On time. Available within one day notice, and now i know why. 2BR no furniture. I asked for a move-in cleaning and since there was nothing in the already clean-ish apt i asked to focus on the kitchen and 2 bathrooms, was told that i'll get a 3 person crew for 2 hours, only 2 showed up, wasnt a problem with me but why tell me 3?
I let them in and confirmed my order with them and left. I got back after more than 1 hour and found one working the kitchen and the other wiping the windows, bathrooms were still dusty. When i asked they told me they finished one of them and vacuumed the master bedroom (it was clearly not vacuumed)! Asked them to do it again and they did quickly.
After they left i checked the windows on the rooms and they were not cleaned, they only cleaned the living room window when i walked in. Not sure what they were doing for more than an hour! If u want to try them, they are somewhat cheeper than others i talked to but not worth it, supervise them all the time and tell them what and how to clean.

I called with low expectation of being able to get a last minute make ready cleaning for my rental home. The last tenants left it really dirty. I was pleasantly surprised to be able to get an appointment for 48 hours later on the day and time I wanted. The office staff was awesome about listening to my needs and getting me set up. On the day of the cleaning, I got a call that the crew wanted permission to work an extra half hour in order to get everything just right. I knew what condition the house was in and was happy to give my ok. They did a terrific job and I will use them again.

I've never had a cleaning service but we're getting ready to put our condo on the market and figured we should hire the experts to do a thorough deep clean. I am SO glad we did. The team showed up 15 min early, were pleasant, understood exactly what needed to be done and were incredibly thorough. I would also like to note that booking was a breeze, the customer service rep was super nice and explained everything very clearly to me. I will be a repeat customer.

I was so impressed with the thoroughness of The Green Maid! I have only used a cleaning service once before and hate to spend money on it as I always think I'll find the time to do it myself. I finally gave in, as my place was getting out of hand, and decided to hire The Green Maid. I just got home to my apartment and it's cleaner than I think I've ever seen it. They cleaned things I didn't even think were possible to clean. money well spent!

Please read 3 women came over and it took them 2.5 hours to kind of clean up around. THEY DROPPED MY GLASS BALL ART DOWN THE STAIRS! i can't believe it didn't break. BEWARE they DO NOT clean everything and do not do any dishes. Even though they say they do. I just spent the entire morning cleaning up after them. They also were gossiping in a foreign language I happen to speak.
I had to listen to them complain and talk about other people in an unpleasant and rude manner. FOR 2.5 HOURS and the place is still dirty. WARNING GREEN MAID ARE NOT GOING TO CLEAN EVERYTHING The office staff was rude on the phone and they also promised services that's now when asked they say they don't even perform! Advice = Go get a bottle of vinegar and splash it all over the place that's the equivilant of their service! THE FLOOR WAS NOT CLEANED AT ALL 3 "MAIDS", 2.5 HOURS, $200,

I was looking forward to using a green service. I contacted them by email and got a call back to schedule a first cleaning. The scheduler was fairly accommodating. The lead Antonia spoke English and I told her what I needed. there were 2 others who didn't speak English, but were friendly. Antonia seemed to be showing them how to clean. She pointed out some scratches that she said were there before (they were not), in the bathrooms (cleaned by the trainees).
They did a good job cleaning generally (tubs, toilets, floors, kitchen). I'm upset that "professional" cleaners (I didn't use any discount) would not know how to clean mirrors, and caused fine scratches so now the mirrors look smeared. I saw the prior review about dishsoap, so asked them not to use the dishwasher. Tried to email the company about the scratches and haven't heard back. Not sure if I'll use them again, and if I do will tell them not to touch the mirrors.

I have very, very mixed feelings about The Green Maid these days. I loved them when I first started using them but that has changed quite a bit in the past few months. On one hand, they do a fantastic job in terms of the cleaning itself--quick AND thorough which is so nice when you are being charged by the hour. I too love the eco-friendly products--especially with pets.
I refuse to use Merry Maids since I found out they are owned by the same company that owns ChemLawn (ick) However, I've had some real problems with the service in recent months. One time I discovered that at least one of the cleaning people had helped themself to a Diet Coke from my kitchen. I let it slide, because really, they work hard and it's only one soda.
Another time, I had to call and report my cleaning team because someone had used dishwashing soap (instead of dishwasher detergent) in my dishwasher, which caused a huge overflow of suds in my kitchen. Seriously? A professional cleaning service should really know better than that. Most recently, my cleaning crew called at the time they were supposed to be at my house to say they were stuck in traffic because of the German American festival.
They would not be able to make it to my house for an hour so they had to cancel my appointment. I'm very lucky I wasn't expecting company or something--I would have been freaking out. When I reported the incident to the office, I was apologized to and told I was "valued as a customer" (I think I have been using them for close to a year now) but was not given any special accomodations or discounts.
They do a good job generally speaking, and I know it is hard to find a good cleaning service at a reasonable price in the city. But if this downward slide continues, I'll be looking for a new service.

I was really excited when I found a green house-cleaning service in Evanston, so I called them right away to schedule an appointment to clean my 1-bedroom apartment. The lady on the phone was very nice and she scheduled an appointment for the same day. Three ladies showed up at the appointment and none of them was able to communicate proficiently in English; I gave them instructions that they pretended to understand but obviously they didn't, as I found out when I got back home.
In particular I asked them not to vacuum close to the pens where my two pet bunnies stay, as they freak out for the noise. When I got back home I found both my bunnies out of their pens and fighting with each other (I have to keep them separated in two different pens). All of this happened without Green Maid even giving me a phone call to explain the situation.
When I called to ask for an explanation, I was told one of the bunnies had jumped out of his pen (he's never done that before!) because they were vacuuming close by; they were not able to tell me what happened to the other bunny as he could not possibly have also jumped out by himself. That said I was told I would receive a discount for the cleaning (only a discount?) and guess what?
I was charged the full fare of $90! $90 for a 1-bedroom apartment! If you want to know how they did their job I can tell you the apartment was clean; so if you want expensive cleaning, non-English speaking ladies and bad customer service call them.

I've used other cleaning agencies before and have found one I will be sticking with. Not only do they come equipped with non-toxic cleaning supplies but you can request the same team each time. This is wonderful and prevents you from having to explain how you want things done each time. Also, the cleaners speak perfect English and have great customer service.
Other companies charge more per person but The Green Maid comes with 3 people included in the price so you know up front how much its going to cost. And they work super fast on top of that! Team number 2 with team leader Judith has been wonderful for me!
