I wish I had read more of the negative reviews before I booked a chimney cleaning with Honest Abe's. My experience was similar to these reviews. George was communicative and professional, but in terms of the value, I cannot say the services performed was worth the $160 cost. George spent about 10-15 minutes total, using a shop vac and then cleaning the flue/area directly above the fireplace with some tools.

My fireplace is not large, but I had done research beforehand that said "A typical chimney sweep and inspection can take 45 minutes to an hour." The end result may have been an improvement, but I'm not sure what all could be done in that short time especially considering this chimney had not been cleaned in 30+ years. Long story short, paying $160 for 10-15 minutes of work seems extremely steep.

Vendor was prompt and courteous with a call ahead of arrival as discussed when scheduled. However, the services rendered for the amount charged are not in line. A full chimney cleaning and inspection was supposed to be completed. No ladder, no chimney cap inspection, no camera, or any view up through the flue was performed. 10 minutes total on site with a shop vac is not what I would have expected for $160.

Didn't show for 1st appointmen, then 1/2 hour late for next appointmen. No apologies because this is just normal business for a Bad Businessman. Then he is at my house for 15 minutes, doesn't clean the chimney well, doesn't go on the roof to get the top half of chimney clean. Charges more Money than the 3 other companies I contacted. if I could give 0 stars, that would be 10 more than George, the owner deserves. There was Nothing honest about Honest Abe's. STAY AWAY & do not hire under any circumstance. The other Yelp reviews about his awful performance are spot on!

We had a pigeon stuck in our chimney, and needed to have it removed before it started to smell. I called several companies, but Honest Abe's was the only one that would come in a reasonable amount of time. George/Chris were very responsive, thorough, and professional. George came to show us how to use our fireplace, as we were selling and never used the fireplace while we lived here. The buyers wanted to make sure it worked. George walked us through the entire process and successful cleaned the gas fireplace as needed. He then provided an invoice with detailed instructions on how to use the gas fireplace. He also showed us where the instructions were in the fireplace (see attached photos). Who would have known that? George was efficient, knowledgeable, and easy to understand. We would highly recommend A Honest Abe's, because they know what they are doing.

I have used my fireplace for one winter and we wanted a cleaning done before burning wood again this winter. I chose Honest Abe's and the owner, George, showed up for the appt. He came in with a shop vac with a brush on the end of the hose and began to vacuum the firebox. I assumed he would first get on the roof and clean the chimney from the top down like many other chimney sweeps have done in the past.

He said we would not be getting on the roof because he was afraid he would break the roof tile. He left in under 10 minutes. I was on a work conference call and was shocked to learn he left so fast. When I inspected the chimney, it appeared to be untouched about a foot up from the fireplace box. When I called George to confront him he said he could send over his brother to inspect the chimney from the top down, if I was willing to pay $175 for a chimney cap.

At first I agreed, but after doing research on chimney caps and seeing them on Amazon for $40 and could be easily installed with 4 screws, I canceled that appt. I don't trust George to be knowledgeable or ethical at any level and would never recommend his company.

I will never call this company again. They did a horrible job cleaning out our chimney. It is still filthy. The guy was here for 3 mins then left. He didn't even clean the fireplace. What a awful experience. We feel like we got scammed.

I am so very grateful to have acted on a friends recommendation to.call George to Service and clean out my Electric Dryer Vent. He discovered a blockage way into the oblong shaped pipe that had I hired a coupon company who might use a vacuum could not have dislodged. More importantly, while working, he shared so much important information with me that as a homeowner for over 47 years in 5 homes, I never knew.

I plan on having him come on a 18 month schedule because or what I researched from his information. I would definitely choose him for a fireplace and by Air Ducts are NEXT. I know there are coupons out there with add on specials but after seeing what George found and how close I may have come to having a fire. You may get worse than you paid for if they use the wrong equipment and mess up the venting pipe in your walls! Hire the best A Honest Abe's. I truely believe he was the right expert to call.

I had a chimney leak that was causing some serious issues at our home. We had Honest Abe's out to the house and Chris and George were great to work with and very reasonably priced as well. Their attention to detail was great and Chris worked very hard to rectify the problem and make sure everything was done correctly. We'll be using these guys again for sure as they are honest, hard working and very friendly. Thanks Honest Abe's for taking such great care of our home!

These guys did a great job. On time, found and fixed the issue. Neat, professional and courteous. I thought they failed to fix it when I tried my fire place a couple of weeks later. They came back out to show me what I was doing wrong at no cost. That is world class in an age where honest contractors are few and far between. These guys are my go-to for fireplace work going forward!

Called to have my chimney cleaning and was able to schedule an appointment right away. There was no wait time and george was on time and friendly. He also answered all my questions. I will definitely be calling them once a year to get my chimney cleaned!
