***BEWARE*** if you purchase something and return it you will have to pay for shipping AND get less than half of what you paid for the item back. Purchased something for $68 dollars and it didn't fit my van. Called to inquire about returning it never mentioned any fees. Went to ship it back and paid for shipping (totally understandable) and they refunded $30 bucks.
We never even used the item we purchased - we took it out of the box and could clearly see it wouldn't work and put it back. Basically sent butler their product back for FREE.

I had a horrible experience with the parts department! I had ordered a wand that was too big I return it very same day. The guy over there claiming that the wand was damaged when he receive it, o asked to send me a picture of the damage he sent me a picture of the box and refused to refund my money back $1150 I will never deal with this company again!

The Butler System ruined my living room sofa and love seat. It turned the cording on both pieces of furniture brown. David Haley, owner of The Carpet Doctor in Rome, NY, came once to try and clean the cording again after I reported the problem, but had no success. The cording was not discolored before the Butler System was used on my furniture. Haley claims that the chemicals may have reacted with materials in the cording.
I have had the furniture cleaned before using different companies and never had a problem. I have placed 4 phone calls within a 2.5 week period and Haley does not reply. I have no alternative, but to replace the furniture. I do not recommend using the Butler System to clean upholstery and absolutely do not recommend using David Haley and The Carpet Doctor.

Since 1989 when I started my business as an owner operator I have owned 3 butler systems. A 1990 GMC I sold in 2000 with 103,000 miles, a 2000 with about 143,000 miles that I sold in 2013 to a water restoration company owner that flew across the country to buy, while commenting that its "just a baby". My current one is a 2013 with 76,000 and running strong.
In all that time I have had nothing but an outstanding experience with this exceptional company and their quality products. The Butler System is incredibly easy to maintain and own. They retain their value and if needed, their service is outstanding. I've had only 3 minor issues that they were able to assist me with either over the phone while in the field, or in a couple cases I've just shown up without an appointment and they get you fixed and on your way.
That says a lot about a company's customer service. Everyone is very knowledgeable and super friendly. (Except for Bob back in the day! Hahah. He was a cranky old timer at the service desk that was old school but knew his stuff.) Since its been 30+ years, I figured it was time for a review. I think they've earned it! Keith DiGregorio. Hands down, the best carpet cleaning truckmount you'll ever purchase or use. When you're ready for the big leagues, you're ready for a Butler. You'll get the best in performance, fit-and-finish, and support. I used Vortexes for almost 10 years before getting my first Butler. Was worried about a downgrade in performance, but ended up shocked by the unruly vacuum and scalding heat of the Max Vac and Max Heat options.
In addition, the unit and all the accessories look like they belong in the van, as if they came from the GM factory pre-installed. The fit-and-finish is impeccable, and you'll swell with pride when customers or fellow cleaners inspect your Butler. Finally, the support from Butler is fast, friendly and informative. If you have questions or need to buy parts, you can talk to the people who actually build these machines, and they will get you exactly what you need. Once, one of the guys gave me his cell phone number and asked me to text a video of my machine running so he could listen to it, which helped him diagnose a problem.
I challenge you to find another company that would go that far to help a customer. I'm in Indianapolis, and shipping from Butler in MA is always fast and affordable. I'm a fan and customer for life. BONUS: The stainless steel blower exhaust under the driver's side of the van looks freaking cool. People ask me about it all the time! See pics below.
