Wow what service! If you need a chimney sweep in Frederick County, you must use Frederick Coundy Chimney Sweeps. From the friendly voice when you call to the super service when they arrive, you can't go wrong. I had a particular need for a cleaning and also chimney repair due to invasion of squirrels and they did the job in an outstanding manner. They had to come out repeatedly because of rain and they made sure the job was done right! The price was reasonable and I would recommend them without reservations. If you want a reference, I will gladly give you one.

Initially, we chose Frederick County Chimney Sweep due to their seeming integrity. Sadly, our second encounter with them revealed an unfortunate discriminatory side that I must share. My father is a well respected Pastor that has ministered in our community for over 40 years with impeccable integrity and a significant cardiac history including open heart surgery and approximately 17 other cardiac procedures.
A cleaning was scheduled for today, November 20th, 2013. On Sunday, November 17th, my parents were forced to return early from a vacation due to my Father developing an irregular rhythm with a rapid rate which is quite serious with his cardiac history and with all of the medical appointments that had been required since Monday, November 18th, 2013 my Father was unable to bring the payment for the service that was rendered. Mr. Bragg asked my Daughter about the payment which she was uncertain about and said I can call my Grandfather to which Mr. Bragg responded, " this always happens with Pastors ".
He told her he had to go to his vehicle and call the company to determine their policy with this, now Mr. Bragg is the OWNER of this company and actually called his wife who in turn contacted my Father and in front of 2 other witnesses yelled at my Father and stated "this is why we require payment at the time for PASTOR'S". My Father began to tremble and his heart rate accelerated at which time my Brother took the phone and tried to explain the issue and resolve the problem by asking if Mr. Bragg could come to their home since my Father was restricted from driving and pick up the check.
This offer was declined and after Mrs. Bragg continued to yell and berate my family repeating this is what happens with "Pastors" over and over my Brother ended the conversation by hanging up. My Daughter had witnessed Mr. Bragg calling my Father and raising his voice stating he would not leave until being paid and was so upset that she called me at work, which happens to be my Father's cardiology office as well.
I contacted Mrs. Bragg to inform her of the reality of my Father's cardiac decompensation over the past 5 days and the absolutely unacceptable way in which my elderly parents had been spoken too. I asked if my Father had ever had an unpaid invoice with their company or was ever untimely in paying his bill to which she replied, NO but this always happens with "Pastors" which is why our policy for "Pastors" is to pay at the time of service.
I explained to her that my Father owes no one and had already mailed the check after their declining coming to their residence 2 miles away to pick up the payment and that it was quite discriminatory to hold my Father accountable for the transgression of someone who had offended their business just as it would be inappropriate for me to assume that Frederick County Chimney Sweep is a dishonest company because other chimney sweeps are dishonest. Mr. Bragg said to my Father as he explained how he had become ill unexpectedly and would have been their to pay the bill if he was physically able that he could make up any excuse under the sun and he didn't care.
There are multiple problems with the situation today, discrimination, inconsideration, disrespect and blatant rudeness shown to elderly customers that had employed their services before, paid on time, and were shown absolute contempt simply because my Father's vocation is that of a Pastor. I will be employing every avenue of media awareness to bring to light the discriminatory and unprofessional behaviors and attitudes that Mr. and Mrs. Harry Bragg have mastered. While the actual sweep is satisfactory the undertones of this company lack integrity in every form.
