Not trustworthy and dishonest. I took my $400 Big Green Clean Machine there for a warranty repair, as instructed by Bissell. It has a 5 year parts and labor warranty which I confirmed with Bissell, prior to driving 45 minutes each way to the only "authorized service center" per Bissell. All it needed was a new hose, which I told them over the phone, however they insisted they see the machine to authorize the warranty replacement of the hose.
Capital called me to inform me it was ready, and confirmed over the phone it was the hose and was covered under warranty. Upon arrival to pick up, I was informed I owed then a $15 diagnostic fee, that Bissell doesn't pay them for their time (not my problem, that sounds like a contractual disagreement between Capitol and Bissell), I showed the guy my copy of the warranty which explicitly said "parts and labor", he told me "look at the sign".
So apparently because they had a sign hung (behind the desk, not where it can easily be seen) stating that they charged a $15 diagnostic fee, I was suddenly responsible for that even though my warranty stated otherwise. Not cool to change the rules up whenever you please and not honor your contact with Bissell. I told them I wasn't paying that, and the guy replied "well we are keeping your machine".
I should have called the police right then, but i really was so shocked at them not honoring their contact as an authorized repair facility that i didn't know what else to do but just pay their stupid fee. So I paid them, called Bissell to report them. Bissell reimbursed me for the troubles and apologized profusely for the contractors bad behavior, but I am writing this in hopes that someone else doesn't get taken advantage of the way i did. Ive also gone to my bank to dispute the charge on general principal. And I plan on copying and pasting the review wherever I can in hopes their unethical practices desist.
