Services
TOP TO BOTTOM CHIMNEY SERVICE, INC. was established in 1990 by the owner, Doug Sherman, while serving on the full time ranks of the Yarmouth Fire Department. After continually responding to chimney fires and carbon monoxide incidents in town, it was evident that most of these situations could have been prevented with regular chimney inspections and maintenance.
Historically the "busy season" begins shortly after Labor Day and runs straight through the holidays and into February. Scheduling an inspection and/or chimney cleaning during this time frame may push the appointment date out by two to four weeks. We do however try to accommodate true emergencies at this time to the best of our ability.
Soot in the house, on the carpet and on the furniture is one of the most understandable concerns of our first time customers. After all, how could someone possibly keep all of the soot out of my house when they run that brush down my chimney? And what about my floors and priceless heirlooms on the mantel?
The National Fire Protection Association "recommends an annual inspection (and cleaning if necessary) of your chimney and flue system." The N.F.P.A. is an organization which develops model building codes using data that is gathered from Fire Departments and other resources across the nation. A number of these statistics are obtained from unfortunate situations occurring daily involving fire and carbon monoxide related injuries or even loss of life. From my experiences as a professional firefighter, I can confirm that most of these situations could be easily prevented.
