If I could give these people ZERO stars I would. They are very poor when it comes to customer service. The clerk that I spoke to today was rude and seemed to feel it was my problem that they did not get my two rugs cleaned by the date they has stated on my receipt. I was supposed to somehow know that this was an estimated date. Well, indicate that on your paperwork.
I picked up the rugs (still dirty) because based on her attitude I was not certain that the rugs would be cleaned properly or damaged in the process. She would not give me her name nor the name of the owner, obviously not knowing this information is public knowledge. THE WORST in customer service I have experienced in a long time. I'm sure that they will get your rug cleaned but don't expect great or even friendly service.
Sad to see a company operate like this. You're only as good as your worst employee. Update: The "owner" responded well over a year after I left the review which speaks volumes as to their attentiveness of the business. Very sad response to my review and more than inaccurate. My husband did not apologize for anything more than a misunderstanding. I have worked in customer service in a family business for over 25 years and know that misunderstandings occur.

When one thinks of magic carpet cleaners, Santa Cruz Rug Cleaners ( also known as Clean-Tec, Dr. Rug, etcetera) is the place to get your carpets cleaned. But they are also experts in cleaning those ragged and worn out rugs, thoroughly. But the best thing was like I brought back a brand new carpet. Holland and 'Drea really built their trust by backing up their reputation for clean carpets and rugs. Make it a trip to pay them a visit, and you will be glad that you let the Rug Cleaners, in Santa Cruz, take the care of the rest. SV

Such a bummer. I hate giving a bad review because the rug cleaning was adequate and I like supporting local businesses, but. When I went to pick up the rug I'd dropped off, all I had was my debit card. The gal at the front desk said there would be an additional fee (I think it was $3.50 or something) to pay by credit card. Being a business owner, I knew that wasn't legal in CA, so I mentioned that maybe she could ask Management. she said she was Management. really. Okay.
I paid the credit card fee. Some time later I emailed the owner about the incident and he said that I actually should have been charged "40% more than the "cash and carry" amount I paid. Wow! Well, that's it for me. I will not be using Santa Cruz Rug again. Management needs to rethink their approach, maybe. I cannot imagine a dissatisfied customer being worth a $3 credit card fee.

I encounter poor customer service I needed to purchase an area rug pad that would prevent a hall runner area rug from slipping when placed over carpet. The employee told me which pad to use for the purpose of going over carpet, between the two types they sell. I ordered it for my 12 ft runner and they needed to cut it to my size. I was told it would be ready in a "few days",b ut it was over two weeks.
It didn't work, allowing the runner to slip. I returned it and explained it was recommended but didn't work, so I asked for it to be exchanged for the other type of pad. I was told no because it was cut to my custom specification. it didn't matter that the wrong product was recommended, or that a 12 ft hall runner is not a custom size as it is a common measurement and could be re-sold.
This product would be effective for holding an area rug over a hardwood or tile floor. I am out $50+. I left the pad with them and predicted they would re-sell it. I'm not a person who expects everything I buy to be refundable. I actually think consumers are a little spoiled by the climate of refunds no matter what. But this time I deserved an exchange. I'm disappointed by Santa Cruz Rug Cleaners.

I brought in 2 rugs to be cleaned. I have multiple animals ranging in age from 1 to 17 years old so we have a myriad of problems. The living room rug I last had cleaned about 4 years ago and the bedroom rug I don't think had ever been cleaned (20+ years). They were bad. They smelled like dirty dog and with all the dirt and hair from the cats and dogs I just couldn't stand it. Santa Cruz Rug Cleaners did a great job.
When I rolled out the living room rug I was amazed. I had forgotten how vibrant the colors were. Both rugs had no smell. It was great. Well the dogs are sleeping on it again and I'm hoping my new vacuum will get their hair and dirt out. But I'll be back to Santa Cruz Rug Cleaners when I need them cleaned again. FYI - I brought the rugs to them which saved me money, I had a coupon too.
I can't say if they are expensive because they are the only place I've gone too but for what they did it was worth it. I would not recommend Santa Cruz Rugs. I felt that they were over priced for what they did. The first truck that they brought was not working properly, filled the house with fumes and the technician had to go back for another truck. The water hook ups to the second truck were not secure, water was spraying out which I feel during a drought should be given attention. The technician was nice and just doing his job but the company should pay more attention to its equipment and to its customers.

I typically do not submit reviews but I simply HAD to give a shout out to Santa Cruz Rug! They have cleaned our carpets numerous times and done an AWESOME job. Arrived on time, carpets were spotless, service was friendly and all members of the team are knowledgeable and provide excellent customer service. So. based on the great job with my carpets, I recently took in the cushions of my sectional after our aging cat had an accident on them.
It was a rush request with zero notice and I still got my cushions back the very next morning, fresh, clean and completely dry which saved me because I was hosting a party for 30 people that afternoon. Call Santa Cruz Rug TODAY. they are simply put, AMAZING! :

I had a really bad experience. This is the first time I write a negative review on Yelp, but my experience was too bad. I brought a 4'X 7 woolen area rug to clean with no special needs. Most of the rug was usually covered with furniture, so just an area was darker because of normal usage, and 2 small stains were at opposite corners. When I came to pick up my rug, it was rolled, and I assumed that it was clean, looking as new.
I paid $94.94 and left. When I unrolled the area rug to put it back where it belonged, I was astonished to see that it was exactly as dirty as when I brought it to be cleaned, no difference at all. I called the company thinking that it was a mistake, and instead of being cooperative, they were on the defensive and made me feel I was the one who was wrong.
I went back to the company to show them, but with such an attitude, my trust went away, and I asked the owners for a refund. Their attitude felt outrageous. They absolutely refused to refund what I had paid, saying that they had spent time doing the work! Then I asked them, how come when I went to pick up the rug, they didn't tell me that they couldn't clean it, and made me believe that it was clean.
They would not give me my money back and were on the defensive making me wrong on and on, pretending they had done a good job! I had similar area rugs cleaned in other places that had always come back really clean. My rug had no special stain which could be difficult to clean, none. I offer them to clean the carpet myself and to come back to show them that it could be cleaned, and then to have them giving me my money back.

If a justified $95 refund is such a hardship on this business, it might not be doing very well. I seldom "slam" businesses but this place is completely crooked. My cat got sick and had an accident on a wool rug so I called for an estimate based on the reviews I saw here I was confident in them. they were polite, got back to me quickly and asked a lot of questions to give me the estimate. When I arrived they told me that my rug was hand tufted wool, not machine made (It's from Ikea.) and they bumped the estimate up. they also convinced me that despite the fact I had paid only $100 for the rug I had gotten an amazing deal and spending $250 to have it cleaned was still a bargain (my stupidity) When I got the rug back it appeared clean and I brought it home, unfortunately my cat disagreed. she went RIGHT to the spot where the accident had been, she started clawing at it, sniffing it (they "GUARANTEED" me the enzyme soak would remove ALL traces of urine LIES) that night the cat apparently marked that spot again (mind you, she is 10 years old this summer and has NEVER sprayed or peed out of a litterbox before) When I found the pee, I called immediately, It took them over a week to call me back and when they did the owner told me it was my fault, and there must be something wrong with my cat and that she stood by her work and refused to do anything to remedy the situation. DO NOT GO HERE they are liars, con artists and crooks

Excellent service! I brought in an octagonal area rug that was well worn and dirty (with dog urine!). Santa Cruz Rug Cleaners made it look like new.the colors are bright now and it is such an improvement. They also cut, to fit. a really nice non-skid padding for underneath the rug. They were prompt, courteous and delivered on time. Highly recommended!

Santa Cruz Rug Cleaners was not as good an experience for me. Although the cleaning was adequate, they billed me much more than was quoted. When I called them about it, they were condescending and basically admitted they can't quote on specifics. I have used other carpet cleaners that were cheaper and friendlier. Bottom line, they might be able to clean carpets but watch out for the price and don't expect them to be friendly.

We had a really great experience with this company from Kim on the frontlines getting our appointment booked to Daniel who showed up and did an awesome job on our spotty carpet! - They accomodated our need for a quick turnaround appointment - The pricing was reasonable - We could pay using a credit card - Kim was friendly, organized and emailed our receipt - Daniel got everything done quickly and efficiently Will definitiely use them again. Santa Cruz Rug is outstanding! I've used some other rug cleaners in the county and have been disappointed. Our carpets just weren't getting cleaned enough. This is the 2nd time I've used Santa Cruz Rug and have been very pleased with the results. In between our 2 visits by them, we inherited 2 cats for a total of 3 lovely felines that lived in our home.
Over the last year and half, my husband and I have been noticing cat spray around our place, especially on the carpet. We will soon have a newborn baby, so I insisted to my hubby that we must have all the carpet, our couch and rocking chair cleaned. The tech they sent was pretty friendly, actually arriving a little early which was nice to see. We left him alone for a few hours to run errands while he worked.
When we returned, the first thing I noticed was the house smelled fresh and not in a chemical way and our carpet, couch and rocking chair looked brand-new. All of the dingy spots were out and best of all, not a trace of cat spray I could smell. A few weeks later now and still no cat spray smell! This is the best money I've spent in awhile and most of all, I can't wait to bring home our new daughter to our clean home. All three cats permanently reside outside during the day now! The carpets needed cleaning and I called Santa Cruz Rug Cleaners, since I have used them before setting up an appointment was very fast and easy. When the technician arrived, I recognized him from the past two times we have used them. It was great to see the same person who had done such a nice job before. Again the carpets were cleaned beautifully and professionally. They also cleaned an arm chair and that turned out great too. Great local business.
