A hand-woven wool rug can have hundreds of hours of artisan labor (and thousands of your dollars!) invested in it. But over time, dirt and sand sift deep into the pile of the rug, down to the foundation fibers. These particles are abrasive, like sandpaper - slowly grinding your rug away from within! You can bring your rugs to our Durango facility, or choose to have us come to your home. We'll measure and inspect your rugs, inform you of any pre-existing conditions we find, and tell you up front what cleaning results you can expect and what your cleaning investment will be.
Services
First, we'll use our RugBadger machine to remove up to 90% of the dry soil before we even start to wash the rug (something no other local cleaner does.) Then, we'll diagnose and treat spots and stains and hand-shampoo your rugs to dissolve soil. We'll detail your fringes to make them look their best.
Hi! My name is Richard, owner of RugMasters of Durango. I've provided this message because more and more people are choosing fine area rugs as a beautiful accent for their wood or tile floors. Many of these rugs are wool, and hand-woven ones may have hundreds of hours of artisan labor (as well as thousand of your dollars!) invested in them.
It depends some on the level of traffic they receive. For runners in hallways, or rugs in a living or dining area that receive a good deal of traffic, I'd say at least once a year. If a rug stays in a formal living room or guest bedroom and receives less traffic, every 2-3 years is probably adequate, but periodic cleaning is still essential to remove accumulated soil, dust and allergens.
