Founded in 1900 by brothers John Selby and Frank H. Kean, Kean's Fine Dry Cleaning was originally called Southern Steam Laundry. The company washed, dried, and folded clothes as well as finely pressed collars for LSU students. Southern Steam Laundry operated in a small building on Government Street and would pick up and deliver laundered clothes on horse-drawn wagons. Six years later, the brothers changed the company name to Kean Bros. and moved the company to Third Street, a very busy corridor at the time.
Learn about Kean's rich dry cleaning history that goes back to the beginning of the 20th century to today. We are proud to have such an extensive history in the great city of Baton Rouge, and hope to continue adding more great moments to our timeline. Kean's The Cleaner began in 1900 when brothers John Selby and Frank H. Kean began laundering collars for LSU students in a small building on Government St.

I've been coming here since the original location where Zippy's is now further down on Perkins. Not complaints. Very professional and my clothes are ready the next day after five pm with only a few exceptions over the years. Love that they keep my credit card info on file and give me a purple bag to drop off my clothes so I don't have to swipe my card every time. Also, the drive through drop off window makes things very efficient as well.
Customer service is above average - friendly and they always address me by name. Sometimes the collars on my shirts are a little off but maybe all cleaners wound do the same.
